I`m Radu from Romania and i`m a owner of a Wartburg 353s , in my country they arent so many forums of people with Warburg owners so i hope i can post in your forums. I want to bring a new and good life of my Wartburg and i want to bring it a new engine : - VW GOLF2 1.6TD year 1991 cod JR ~ I read on other forums that this engine will go great but my problems is i dont know a mechanic that put a engine like this on the Wartburg so my questions are : 1. What changes i should go for the chassis so the engine will go in 2. This will go fine with the car ? |

Hello Welcome to Wartburg-forum. There are a least two 1600 Wartburg in Germany. I asked one of owners and he thought it would be better if you make contact at the German Wartburg-forum. It is possible to write in English, but of course better if you understand German. Here is the web-side to German Wartburg-forum. http://www.w311.info/index.php In any case I will try to translate, what the german Wartburg-owner wrote to me: 1600TD - is named as turbodiesel, if I got it right. In a 353 it is impossible, while the engine must be put in lengtways. And there will be heavy load at the front wheels. The car is hard to stear, put parking will be easy. Just put the front wheel at place, then go out and lift the rear end to its place, while the rear end is so light. Might be that an 353 at a Wartburg 1,3 frame is possible, but have the Turbodiesel enough room? Perhaps the frame has to be modified. The gearbox, consoles and driveshaft from VW at innner end and Wartburg at outer end has to be modified. With kind regards |
